The Polish Chamber of Electromobility Development (PIRE) is realizing The eMobi Road to COP26, an expedition across Europe to Glasgow to hand in a petition to establish a UN World Electromobility Day during this year’s COP 26 climate summit. Minister and President of COP24 in Katowice Michał Kurtyka attended the inauguration of the event, which took place on 19 October 2021 at the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
„The initiative taken by the Polish Chamber of Electromobility Development is part of activities aimed at promoting electromobility on a global scale. We need a strong voice and action to promote electromobility, which is why I joined The eMobi Road to COP26 initiative with great enthusiasm. As the Ministry of Climate and Environment we want everyone to know what electromobility is and what benefits it gives us. Zero emissions, better driving comfort, lower noise emission – this is our future.” said Michał Kurtyka, President of COP24, during the inaugural meeting.
The eMobi Road to COP26 is an initiative that aims to highlight the role of electromobility in decarbonizing the transport sector as an effective technology to achieve climate goals. It is also more than 10,000 km to drive electric cars between COP host cities: Warsaw – Katowice – Glasgow and Rome as a partner of this year’s climate conference. The route includes European capitals such as Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Ljubljana, Rome, Berlin, Brussels and London.
„During the project we met with representatives of countries, embassies, companies and organizations who support our idea and signed a petition for example Ministry of Climate and Environment of Poland, Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Enel X, Ekoenergetyka – Polska. In Vatican we had the opportunity to meet with HE Pope Francis he also supported our initiative and blessed the electric vehicle for onward journey” – says Krzysztof Burda, President of the Polish Chamber of Electromobility Development.
„By realization of the project, we also want to draw attention to Poland’s contribution to the climate transformation, which was worked out during the COP24 climate conference in Katowice. Driving Change Together and Just Transition and Solidarity declarations”, explains Marcin Nowak from the Polish Chamber of Electromobility Development.
Driving Change Together
The DRIVING CHANGE TOGETHER declaration is a joint initiative of Poland and the United Kingdom, which draws attention to the role of zero-emission transport in the process of transformation of the transport sector in order to achieve climate targets and build a better future.
Just Transition and Solidarity
Just Transition and Solidarity – one of the outcomes of COP24 – the just transformation of regions that will undergo profound changes as a result of the decarbonization of the energy sector, is also the role of electromobility as a flywheel for economic change in the regions.
The eMobi Road to COP26 initiative has received the Honorary Patronage of the Minister of Climate and Environment, the Minister of Infrastructure and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
